AWPL Classic Monday - Chinatown (1974) Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown.  Roman Polanski’s neo-noir thriller film stars Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway and John Huston. Los Angeles 1937: Jake 'J.J.' Gittes, a private detective, is hired to expose an adulterer, but finds himself caught up in a web of deceit, corruption, and murder. With exquisite period sets and costumes, and exceptional dialogue (Robert Towne would win Best Screenplay Oscar for his brilliant filmic writing), Chinatown is a 70’s masterpiece.  Rated R: 2 hours  10 minutes.

Presented by Lisa Miccio, Founder/Director of The Berry Basket Early Childhood & Family Programs, Warwick. Lisa has years of experience teaching at several Waldorf Schools and is both a faculty member and board trustee at Sunbridge Institute, a Waldorf teacher education institution in Rockland County and on the faculty of Sophia’s Hearth in Keene, NH. She holds a BA in English from the College of Charleston, an MS in Elementary Education from CW Post, Long Island University, and an MS in Waldorf Education from Sunbridge College. 

Come and meet new friends and join in on a game that is played all over the world.  Mahjong enthusiasts of all skill levels are invited to play every Tuesday from 10am to 1pm. The sessions are open-ended and participants can play as many or as few games as they wish.  Players with mahjong sets are encouraged to bring them, as the Library has only a limited number to loan. This program is free, ongoing and open to players from all communities.

Local artist Sarah McHugh will guide you throug the basics of watercolor painting in an informal, relaxed setting. All materials provided. Registration opens September 5th. 

Come for a night of Magic the Gathering! New and experienced players welcome. We will have cards on hand for new players, but bring your decks if you have them!

In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month - Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It (2021) Documentary highlights the remarkable 70+ year career of Rita Moreno (née Rosita Dolores Alverío in 1931). Moreno defied both her humble beginnings in Puerto Rico, and relentless racism to become one of the rare EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) Award Winners of our time. Her resilience and talent triumphed over adversity and broke barriers for generations of artists.  Rated PG-13: 1 hour 30 minutes.
