Black History Month: Mudbound (2017) Dee Ree’s historical drama based on Hillary Jordan’s 2008 novel  stars Carey Mulligan, Garrett Hedlund, Jason Clarke, Jason Mitchell, Jonathan Banks, Rob Morgan and Mary J. Blige; and depicts two World War II veterans – one white, one black – who return to rural Mississippi each to address racism and PTSD in his own way.  Rated R; 2 hours, 14 minutes.

Book: Long Road to Freedom  (Ranger in Time Series) by Kate Messner

Come and meet new friends and join in on a game that is played all over the world.  Mahjongg enthusiasts of all skill levels are invited to play every Tuesday from 10am to 1pm. The sessions are open-ended and participants can play as many or as few games as they wish.  Players with mahjongg sets are encouraged to bring them, as the Library has a limited number to loan. This program is free, ongoing and open to players from all communities.

Are you interested in practising your Spanish? Join Carlos Gonzalez, originally from Mexico City, for an hour of conversational Spanish where you will talk about various topics of interest such as history, education, etc. in a conversational setting. 

The Writer's Group meets every Wednesday, from 2 to 4pm in the Board Room. Bring in 6 copies of up to four pages, typed and double spaced, to be critiqued by fellow writers in a friendly, constructive manner. All forms of prose acceptable; no poetry please! This is a non-instructional program for adults; new members always welcome!
