Join us for this fascinating story of art conservation. Tina Kane will present a discussion with slides of the landmark medieval tapestry conservation project she managed for the Metropolitan Museum. In 1973, the curators of the Cloisters began the restoration of a 16th century Redemption Tapestry. The restoration was completed in 2009. The tapestry now hangs in the Cloisters.

    You’re Hired!
What key words must be on your resume?  How do employers choose candidates to interview from among the thousands of resumes they receive? What is the appropriate number of pages for your resume?  How do you answer those difficult interview questions? What is the “hidden job market”?  This workshop series will answer these questions and a lot more.

If you are looking to find a new job, thinking about changing careers, or planning to return to the workforce, you should attend this 3-session workshop series. You will build the skills and confidence needed to market yourself in this economy and highly competitive job market in order to land your next job. You will learn how to write an effective and winning resume and cover letter that will get you the interview. You will also learn how to develop and implement an effective job search strategy by understanding what happens behind the scenes when an employer is looking to fill a position.  And finally, you will prepare and practice for different types of interviews.

This informative and highly interactive workshop series is conducted by Gregg A. Knowles, a human resources professional with over 25 years of Fortune 500 experience.  His strong background in recruiting and talent acquisition and insider knowledge will help you hear the words….”You’re hired!”

With his wife dead and buried, and life nearly over at 75, John Perry takes the only logical course of action left him: he joins the army. Now better known as the Colonial Defense Force (CDF), Perry's service-of-choice has extended its reach into interstellar space to pave the way for human colonization of other planets while fending off marauding aliens. The CDF has a trick up its sleeve that makes enlistment especially enticing for seniors: the promise of restoring youth. After bonding with a group of fellow recruits who dub their clique the Old Farts, Perry finds himself in a new body crafted from his original DNA and upgraded for battle, including fast-clotting "smartblood" and a brain-implanted personal computer. All too quickly the Old Farts are separated, and Perry fights for his life on various alien-infested battlegrounds.--Booklist
