Members of the Mid-Hudson Japanese Community Association will be on hand to demonstrate the art of origami. Learn to fold colorful papers into simple figures. Compete in fun games filled with laughter. For families with children ages 3+.

Nuido Embroidery ~ Demonstration & Display

Japanese embroidery is an embroidery technique that goes back more than 1600 years. Initially only used to decorate items used during religious ceremonies, it gradually took on a more artistic purpose. Betty Hill will demonstrate her art and discuss her experience at the Kurani Kai School of Embroidery in Japan.

Manga with Misako Rocks!

Learn step-by-step the process of drawing characters and panel works, manga-style! There will also be a slide presentation of Misako's childhood in Japan, her move to the United States, and getting started as an artist. Ages 10 and up.

Korean Storytelling for Children

The Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project presents a special Children's Program. Members of the KSCPP will read 5 short stories from their illustrated book, "Chung Hyo Ye" and perform a traditional New Year's Greeting (Sebae) Ceremony. Children will have the opportunity to try on traditional Korean costumes and practice Sebae to their parents. Korean refreshments will be served. Parents, please bring your cameras for a wonderful photo op!
Registration is limited to Warwick cardholders until May 14.
Open registration begins May 14.
