Researcher Jerry Kuntz will look at the life and personality of famous hunting and field sports writer Henry William Herbert, whose pen name was "Frank Forester", and his portrayal of Warwick area wildlife, people, and locations.  Writing in the early 19th century, Herbert's prolific best sellers and artwork showed detailed understanding of and appreciation for the natural world from a hunter's viewpoint, while at the same time his personal life was an unfolding tragedy.

Set in the Country Club District of Kansas City, Missouri, during the 1930’s and 1940’s, an upper-class family begins to fall apart due to the conservative nature of the patriarch and the progressive values of his children. The “forever” chemicals, PFAS and PFOA, have been much in the news lately. These chemicals, hazardous to human and animal health and the environment, have been found widely around the world, including in New York State. The EPA is currently considering making standards for these chemicals in drinking water more stringent. What are the dangers, and what can be done?

“The Forever Chemicals,” a film (26 minutes) produced by Detroit PBS, tells the story of communities and individuals in Michigan impacted by PFAS. A presentation afterward by Sustainable Warwick includes what governments and individuals can do.

Come and meet new friends and join in on a game that is played all over the world.  Mahjong enthusiasts of all skill levels are invited to play every Tuesday from 10am to 1pm. The sessions are open-ended and participants can play as many or as few games as they wish.  Players with mahjong sets are encouraged to bring them, as the Library has only a limited number to loan. This program is free, ongoing and open to players from all communities.
