Artist Eric Sloane was a prominent guest in the Sugar Loaf community for years, and the annual "Eric Sloane Day" is still recalled by many. John Pennings of The Friends of the Eric Sloane Museum will present on the evolution of Sloane's work as an artist, illustrator and author. His writing subjects ranged from clouds and weather, folklore, tools and early Americana.
Mr. Holland’s Opus (1995) stars Richard Dreyfuss in the title role of Glenn Holland, a dedicated high-school music teacher who attempts to compose his own music while struggling to balance his job and life with his wife and profoundly deaf son. The cast also includes Glenne Headly, Olympia Dukakis, William H. Macy and Jay Thomas. Rated PG: 2 hours 23 minutes.
