Big Tech is Our Generation's Big Tobacco!

Are you concerned about our growing addiction to technology? You are not alone!  In today’s world, it is difficult to escape the constant barrage of information and stimulation from screens.  The 2020 documentary film, "The Social Dilemma," focuses on how social media algorithms manipulate our behavior and how our constant exposure to screens can have a negative impact on our mental health. Told by some of the very people who supervised the systems at places like Facebook, Google, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter, learn how we're all affected by Big Tech and social media, and how we all can be part of the solution. Follow-up discussion on possible solutions will be facilitated by Beverly Braxton, founder of Family Central and We the People Warwick.

“This is about the war for attention and where’s that taking society.”

Dead Poets Society (1989) Peter Weir’s coming of age drama set in 1959 stars Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard and Ethan Hawke. A new English teacher, John Keating (Williams), is introduced to an all-boys preparatory school that is known for its ancient traditions and high standards. He uses unorthodox methods to reach out to his students, who face enormous pressures from their parents and the school. With Keating's help, students Neil Perry (Leonard), Todd Anderson (Hawke) and others learn to break out of their shells, pursue their dreams and seize the day.  Tom Schulman picked up an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.  Rated PG: 2 hours 8 minutes.
