Don Urmstrom of the Mid-Hudson Adirondack Mountain Club will tell you how to get started, what gear you will need, where to go paddling, where to meet other paddlers and where to get instruction on your technique. See and feel the difference in kayaks, paddles and other equipment with our hands-on presentation. Special attention is given to kayak safety and choosing your first kayak.

The Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project promotes Korean history and culture to the wider world. The presentation will provide a basic introduction to Korea's long and rich artistic history, the spirit of its people, and its cultural values. The program will include insight into Korean history and culture with a demonstration of theKorean wedding ceremony in beautiful, traditional costume. There will also be a special recognition of local Korean War veterans. Following the program, traditional Korean meals will be served.

By raising seedling indoors, the gardener can get a head start before the last frost as well as grow unusual varieties, including plants that require a long growing season. Gar will discuss seed germination, care for seedlings, and steps for successful transplanting into the garden.

On World Book Night - April 23, 2013 - the Friends of the Albert Wisner Library will once again be "Spreading the Love of Reading Person to Person." Apply to be a book giver by January 23rd at the World Book Night website, and select one of the 30 titles chosen by an independent panel of librarians and booksellers. You will receive 20 copies of your chosen title to give away FREE to members of the community.
