The Hudson Valley String Quartet returns to Albert Wisner Public Library with a concert featuring early works by Shostakovich (sixth quartet) and Beethoven (third quartet).  Shostakovich, one of the great 20th Century composers known for his massive symphonic works, was referred to as the "Beethoven of our time" by his peers. He used folk tunes as the foundation for his sixth quartet, presenting them within Beethoven's familiar classical structures.
