The Homegrown String Band performs original acoustic arrangements of the traditional music that has become part of the popular roots and folk rock canon. All the songs the band presents have stood the test of time by not only surviving, but thriving and flourishing for hundreds of years via the folk process and oral tradition. Many popular rock bands were founded by avid listeners and students of traditional music. People like Jerry Garcia and Bob Dylan were very well-versed in American blues and bluegrass as well as the folk traditions of the British Isles.

We are all actors in a real-time cultural and environmental drama.  It can be scary and confusing, but also rewarding and incredibly creative, and we need hope and a vision.  Susanne’s recently-published book, Deep Living, offers that vision.  The author will talk about putting meaning and quality back into everyday life by creating win-win scenarios.  This requires a shift in values, away from “profit above all” quantification, and our usual win-lose scenarios, to a value-based culture that is cooperative, sustainable, compassionate, and transparent.  Deep Living urges re

The smooth, fluid movements of Tai Chi have been practiced from ancient times as a means to calm the mind and rejuvenate the body.  In this six-week series, instructor Ron Gee will cover standing mediation techniques, Qigong exercises and basic Yang-style Taijiquan postures. 

This workshop will run for six consecutive Mondays; please register for each individual class.

Beyond the usual radish and tomato, let’s expand our repertoire and grow a greater variety of vegetables and fruit for a healthier you.  Organic Gardener Gar Wang will review the fundamentals of organic gardening and discuss the benefits of growing out-of-the-ordinary plants, suitable for the home garden.

Team up for the annual Battle of the Books! Teams of 2 to 4 teens will read 8 books and answer trivia questions to determine the top 10 players to compete in the regional competition this September.
