In Honor of Black History Month:  Belle (2013) Amma Asante’s British period drama - loosely inspired by the 1779 painting of Dido Elizabeth Belle - stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Tom Wilkinson, Miranda Richardson, Penelope Wilton, Sam Reid, Matthew Goode, Emily Watson, Sarah Gadon, Tom Felton, and James Norton. The biracial daughter of Royal Navy Captain Sir John Lindsay is raised by aristocratic Great-uncle Lord William Murray in 18th century England. The film centers on Dido's relationship with an aspiring lawyer. Rated PG, 1 hour 40 minutes.

Local historian Sue Gardner coordinates an informal sharing of some historic local Black family heritage and lore. Attendees are encourage to share their own family's history and treasured stories of ancestors, "show and tell" family photos and heirloom items are also welcome.
