Our favorite winter hot drink started as an invigorating and nourishing brew that was quite different from today. Culinary Historian Peter G. Rose will present the early trade of the Valley’s Dutch settlers through the 18th century into the late 19th century, and how chocolate connected the world to early New Yorkers. A sample tasting of 18th century hot chocolate will be provided, as well as one of the many early recipes and how it can be made today.
