Comedy Night comes to the Albert Wisner Public Library ! Join us on September 30 at 7pm for an evening of laughter, as legendary stand-up comedians Will Durst and Johnny Steele take to the stage at the Library. The comedians are in the Hudson Valley for the screening at the Woodstock festival of 3 Still Standing a documentary about stand-up comedy in San Francisco in the 1980"s. The film features Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, Paula Poundstone and Rob Schneider as well as Durst and Steele. The comedy duo will perform live at the Library as they riff on clips from 3 Still Standing, weaving together film and stand-up comedy for a hilarious and memorable journey into the lives of gifted comedians.
The New York Times has called Will Durst, "quite possibly the best political comedian working in the country today." He writes a nationally syndicated humor column and is a frequent contributor on CNN, MSNBC & Fox News. Although receiving 5 Emmy nominations and 7 consecutive nominations for the American Comedy Awards Stand Up of the Year, he's never won anything. Not even a toaster.
Johnny began performing comedy in 1984 after quitting graduate school in a move his parents named: "Operation $40K Down The Drain". But Johnny quickly got the hang of the craft and was soon performing at the nation"s top clubs. In addition to a career in stand-up comedy Johnny hosted San Francisco"s Live 105 Morning Radio Show for several years and subsequently was the co-host of KRON/Bay TV"s "The Show." Johnny is currently performing comedy as well as working on a number of web, radio, and TV projects, one of which is bound to take off due to, if nothing else, pure dumb luck. He is also working on a humorous solo show about his journey to find peace in a WalMart.
