Join Laurie Byro and the Circle for a discusson of American poet, Elizabeth Bishop.

Bishop was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, graduated Vassar College in 1934 with a degree in English, and went on to become a major American poet of the 20th Century. She was the recipient of numerous awards and honors for her poetry, including the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the Neustadt International Prize for Literature. Bishop's poetry is often characterized by its attention to detail, its precise language, and its ability to capture the essence of a particular moment or experience. Her work is also marked by a sense of restraint and understatement, which allows the reader to draw their own conclusions and interpretations.  Click here for a selection of poems that will be discussed or stop by the Help Desk.  New members are always welcome!
