Does buying a light bulb seem more complicated and confusing than it should be?  Do LEDs last as long as they claim?  Do they look as good as my old incandescent lights?  Do they throw out too much glare, or look like "white hospital lighting"?  Can they be used indoors, outdoors and in wet locations?

In the past, purchasing an incandescent bulb was straightforward - we knew what to expect, and they all emitted a similar warm glow. However, with the emergence of LED lights, a 9-watt LED can outshine an old 75-watt incandescent bulb. The light's hue can vary from warm to bright or anything in between. How can I determine the best replacement for the incandescent bulbs I've been using? Greg Calluccio, a Warwick resident with over 40 years of experience in the electronics industry (including 23 years in LED light development), will simplify industry jargon like lumens, color temperature, and dimmability using more accessible language. He will explore the advantages of LED technology, provide tips for controlling LED lighting, and discuss scenarios where LEDs may not be suitable.
