Late in the last Ice Age, giant beasts disappeared worldwide. Abundant mastodon and other large mammal fossil sites in the Black Dirt around Warwick have been helping us solve this mystery. Dr. Robinson specializes in the study of fossil plant pollen, and what this tells us about environmental changes which accompanied the end of the mastodons and other animals of the Pleistocene era.
