J.R. Solonche, a Professor Emeritus of English at SUNY Orange and Poet Laureate of Orange County, is a prolific poet whose work has been featured in over 500 publications since the early 70s, including The New York Times, The Threepenny Review, and Rattle. His poems have been translated into multiple languages and have been showcased on radio shows like Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac. He's authored 38 books and been nominated for the National Book Award and twice for the Pulitzer Prize. He resides in the Hudson Valley with his wife, Joan I. Siegel, with whom he co-authored Peach Girl: Poems for a Chinese Daughter.
