Creeks, streams and rivers flow through a variety of landscapes from highly altered urbanized centers to scenic rural lands. Areas next to streams are particularly challenging because of their susceptibility to flooding, scouring and erosion. In this presentation, we will look at native plants as some of our best streamside planting choices, for their ornamental qualities as well as their ability to support biodiversity and protect stream channels.

The Library is interested in beginning a chess club for children. We need parents and other interested adults or teens to help us get a chess club started. This program will teach you about the game and give you the skills to teach it to others. We hope that this program will inspirevolunteers to begin a weekly or bi-weekly chess club here. This program will be hosted by Michael Kusen, a chess master and author. He belongs to Chess for Teachers. This program is intended for families, and children who attendmust be in Kindergarten and up.
