The Homegrown String Band performs original acoustic arrangements of the traditional music that has become part of the popular roots and folk rock canon. All the songs the band presents have stood the test of time by not only surviving, but thriving and flourishing for hundreds of years via the folk process and oral tradition. Many popular rock bands were founded by avid listeners and students of traditional music. People like Jerry Garcia and Bob Dylan were very well-versed in American blues and bluegrass as well as the folk traditions of the British Isles.

Beyond the usual radish and tomato, let’s expand our repertoire and grow a greater variety of vegetables and fruit for a healthier you.  Organic Gardener Gar Wang will review the fundamentals of organic gardening and discuss the benefits of growing out-of-the-ordinary plants, suitable for the home garden.

Team up for the annual Battle of the Books! Teams of 2 to 4 teens will read 8 books and answer trivia questions to determine the top 10 players to compete in the regional competition this September. Mary Collura, local documentary film maker & Sesquicentennial Creative Director, invites everyone in Warwick to share their memories of the 1967 Centennial.  Bring pictures, souvenirs, film strips or just your stories!  Participants will have an opportunity to appear in ENCAPSULATE, a documentary about the 1967 Time Capsule and events leading up to its unearthing on Saturday, August 5, 2017.

Join Teen Advisory Board for a fun two hour walk through the Birnberg Preserve with Roger Flaum, a plant expert who is going to show us all kinds of edible and medicinal plants. Wear comfortable shoes and bug spray. Parents are welcome to attend!

There are literally thousands of very talented, yet undiscovered composers searching for a public forum to share their music.  Designed by Robert Voisey, 15 Minutes of Fame is a program that allows composers to give their music a live public performance.  Our flute quartet will select fifteen brand-new compositions from this program.  Each work is approximately one minute long and will be combined into one new composition and given its premiere at the Library. Selections by Mozart, Rodgers, Ellington and others will also be performed.

Come turn trash into treasure as we transform an empty glass bottle into a one-of-a-kind lamp.  We will provide the bottles and light.  If you would like to add a shade, please bring in a clip-on shade.
