Please join us in welcoming New York Times-bestselling author Allison Pataki for a discussion of her newly-published memoir about the harrowing year after her husband suffered a debilitating stroke at age thirty and about his difficult road to recovery.  Described as a “manifesto for living,” the book is an uplifting story about the transformative power of faith and resilience.  Pataki is also the author of Sisi, The Traitor’s Wife, and The Accidental Empress, and is the daughter of former New York State Governor George E.

For 40 years, the String Trio of New York (S3NY) has been a powerful force on the contemporary music scene.  This season, they are marking their 40^th anniversary celebration with an outstanding repertoire of recent compositions and re-imaginations of earlier works – both classic originals and selections from the more than a dozen pieces commissioned from a variety of the most notable composers of the late 20^th century.

In the "olde days" in Ireland, music was written and performed using traditional instruments like the fiddle and tin whistle.  Emigrants from Ireland brought these instruments and repertoire to the United States, giving rise to what we know as Irish American folk music.  Join Barry Wiesenfeld, Brian Conway and Tim Harte as they take you on a musical journey from Ireland to the New World.

Bill Fiero is a lifelong birder who enjoys travel and photography as well as the world of birds. He travelled to Scotland and will give a PowerPoint show on the birds of this beautiful country.  Bill has a lifelong love of nature, especially birds, from his upbringing in the country.  A retired pharmacist, he and his wife Jayne travel frequently and enjoy visiting other lands, cultures and wildlife.

World War I is frequently overshadowed by its successor, despite the Great War's own massive scale and impact.  However, this was the war that moved America's status from a regional power into a recognized and respected world power.  Often, history is discussed from the perspective of politicians, heroes and military generals.  This program focuses instead on stories and feats of the men of Orange County, NY who fought to make the world safe for democracy.
