In 1925, Alfred Hitchcock directed his first film, The Pleasure Garden. 101 years later, we’ll revisit the master’s career, focusing on his technical prowess and political conscience. Jeff Hughes is a PhD student in American Studies at Rutgers University-Newark, after earning multiple degrees from the Martin Scorsese Department of Cinema Studies at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He is a frequent film lecturer at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, NY.
