In this K-2 Book Club we will share a story and have a discussion about it. A related activity will follow. Join us to read about apples and apple pie. We will even make a tasty treat!

Swing is improvisational, energetic and as fun to dance as it is to watch. Dance instructor Diane Newlander will teach the fundamentals of swing dancing. Learn or brush up on the dance craze of the 1940's and 50's that is still quite popular today.

Join Marina Case Alario, interior designer, for this decorating workshop. Learn about the four iconic styles of interior design -Traditional, Modern, Tribal and Fun - and how to blend styles to create a personal style. Marina will provide examples of how design can reflect an individual's life story - whether displaying artifacts from travels, beloved antiques, cherished furniture or a specific collection built over a lifetime.

Join English professor Diane Tomko for a discussion of famous correspondents in literary history. Their letters stand in marked contrast to our fleeting tweets, texts and emails. What can we learn from this more literate form of expression?

Creeks, streams and rivers flow through a variety of landscapes from highly altered urbanized centers to scenic rural lands. Areas next to streams are particularly challenging because of their susceptibility to flooding, scouring and erosion. In this presentation, we will look at native plants as some of our best streamside planting choices, for their ornamental qualities as well as their ability to support biodiversity and protect stream channels. Examples of streamside plants and plantings will be explored including some of those proposed for the Wawayanda Creek in the Village of Warwick. Our speaker will be Barbara Z. Restaino Barbara lives in the Catskill Mountains, an area rich in native flora, where she established her landscape architecture firm Restaino Design in 1992. She practices throughout the Hudson Valley Region. Her firm is currently working on a strategic study of the Wawayanda Creek with the Village of Warwick. Barbara is a Registered Landscape Architect and LEED Accredited Professional who combines design with a commitment to environmental concerns. Her primary interests lie in the use of native plants in a variety of settings from residential to restorations as well as designing attractive solutions for stormwater management. No registration necessary; open to all area residents

To salute Veterans and their spouses, AARP’s Driver Safety Program will waive the normal course registration fee during the month of November. Here is a great opportunity reacquaint yourself with the rules of the road as we say “Thank You” for your service to our country.  

Tune up your driving skills and update your knowledge of the rules of the road and learn defensive driving techniques. Upon completion of the course, you will qualify for an automobile insurance discount given by your insurance company.
