Download and Transfer an Audiobook to .MP3 Player

You will need to download and install the OverDrive Media Console, as well as perform a security update on Windows Media Player.

Downloading and Installing OverDrive Media Console

From the library’s homepage, www.albertwisnerlibrary.org, mouse over Finding Materials and click on Download eBooks, Audiobooks, Music, Video.

In the right column, find Software Downloads. Click on OverDrive Media Console.  Select Windows or Mac version, then click Download Now.  Follow the prompts to install the OverDrive Media Console.

The first time that Windows Media Player attempts to open a DRM-protected file, it will alert you that a security upgrade must be performed before the file can be opened.  Follow the prompts to perform the security upgrade.  The upgrade takes just a few moments.

Select an Audiobook to Download

From the library’s homepage, www.albertwisnerlibrary.org, mouse over Finding Materials and click on Download eBooks, Audiobooks, Music, Video.

Sign into your Library account using your Library barcode and PIN (often the last 4 digits of your phone number; if that doesn’t work, call the Help Desk at 986-1047, ext. 3 and a staff member will look it up for you).

Search for an audiobook title in .mp3 format.  Use the Advanced Search feature if you only want to view titles with copies immediately available.

Add your desired title to your Download List.

Click on Proceed to Checkout.

OverDrive Media Console will open automatically, and will ask you to create a new folder.  Click OK.

Download your selection(s) to the OverDrive Media Console.  The green status bar in the lower right corner will indicate when your download is complete.  When it is, you’re ready to transfer the audiobook to your .mp3 player.

Transfer to .MP3 Player

Connect the .mp3 player into the computer’s USB port.

Click on Transfer in the OverDrive Media Console. It’s located in the upper left corner. The OverDrive Media Transfer Wizard will automatically open.  Follow the prompts.

Select your items to be transferred to the .mp3 player.  Click on Next.

When transfer is complete, click on Finish.
