Name: Deb Lucke
Biographical Information: Deb Lucke is a writer and illustrator of children’s books with an interest in bad behavior and horribly embarrassing incidents. Since her own childhood had plenty of both she is never short of material. Her latest, Sneezenesia, is the story of a horribly embarrassing incident involving some really unusual snot. This follows “The Book of Time Outs” the story of badly-behaved people throughout history and “The Boy Who Wouldn’t Swim,” about bad-behavior and a horribly embarrassing incident in the town pool.
Deb lives and works in Cold Spring with her partner, Paul Hartzell, a writer. She spends time with writer friends in New York and illustrator friends upstate and leads tours for school children at Dia:Beacon.
Featured Book: Sneezenesia. Sneezenesia is the story of a boy who sneezes so hard that everything he’s learned so far in school blows out his nose. He sneezes out Presidents, dinosaurs, and arithmetic. He even sneezes out Christmas. Somehow the poor, empty-headed boy has to get all his knowledge back.
