Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation

AWPL Foundation Mission Statement                                    

Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation, Inc. was incorporated pursuant to the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law of the State of New York on May 24, 2005.  The mission of the Foundation is to raise private funds in support of the services and programs of Albert Wisner Public Library, a taxpayer-funded School District Library.  The Foundation is exempt from payment of Federal income tax, and has qualified as a public charity, pursuant to the provisions of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible by the donor to the extent provided by law.  The Foundation also has registered with the Charities Bureau of the Office of the Attorney General of the State of New York.  Inquiries may be directed to that office at (212) 416-8686 and financial filings are posted on charitiesnys.com

The Foundation enjoys broad support from members of the community in the Library’s service area and strives for transparency in its financial results.  Click the link above to locate and review the Foundation’s financial statements, as well as Form 990-EZ, as filed with the Internal Revenue Service.

AWPL Foundation College Scholarship

Since 2007, the Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation has sponsored college scholarships, awarded annually through an essay competition.  College-bound high school seniors who reside within the Library’s service district – specifically, the Warwick Valley Central School District — are welcome and invited to participate in the essay competition, whether or not they attend Warwick Valley High School.  Essays are welcome from college-bound home-schooled students. Three $2,500.00 scholarships are offered, sponsored by Library benefactors Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes (seen above) and one anonymous donor.

Albert Wisner Public Library Foundation Financial Information

Please find below the Foundation’s financial statements and IRS Form 990.  For each year, the CHAR500 filed with the Charities Bureau of the Office of the Attorney General of the State of New York will be found with the corresponding IRS Form 990 immediately following.  All files are in .pdf format, so you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer in order to open them.
