May is National Mental Health Awareness Month.
Join us for “Ending the Silence,” an engaging program designed to raise awareness and spark conversation about mental health. This presentation helps participants recognize the warning signs of mental health conditions and learn practical steps to support themselves or a loved one. Each session features two presenters: one who provides an informative overview, and a young adult who shares their personal story of living with a mental health condition and their journey of recovery. Audience members are encouraged to ask questions and take part in open dialogue—helping to build understanding, reduce stigma, and foster hope.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization. Founded in 1979, NAMI offers free education, advocacy, and support for individuals and families affected by mental illness. We work to expand access to care, end stigma, and build a community of hope—because mental illness is a medical condition that can affect anyone, at any age.
NAMI Orange County: Formerly known as NAMI-AMICO, Inc. and AMICO (Alliance on Mental Illness in the County of Orange), NAMI Orange County began with a small group of families whose loved ones were hospitalized at Middletown Psychiatric Center. With no support programs available at the time, these families—brought together by one parent’s search for connection after their son’s diagnosis of schizophrenia—laid the foundation for the support and advocacy NAMI Orange County continues to provide today.
