Friends of the Library

Founded in 1973, the Friends of the Library is a non-profit membership organization of caring community members who give gifts of time, energy, ideas and financial support to the Library. The Friends’ gifts and continuing support to the Library include summer reading programs, children’s puppet shows, welcome kits for children, annual book sales, bridge marathons, gifts to the annual operating fund and more.  They created and maintain The Red Bookshelf project, a community outreach initiative which places red bookshelves in gathering places around Warwick and regularly stocks them with free, gently-used books for people to take home.  Red Bookshelves are located at the United Methodist Church, the Warwick Senior Center, Liberty Green apartments, Alamo Farmworkers Community Center, Burt Farms and The Clothing Closet thrift shop.

The Friends also operate Friends and Bookends, a shop of gently-used books located on the lower level of the library and staffed daily by Friends volunteers. Click here for more information on the bookstore.

New members are always welcome to join the Friends.  Please click here to download or stop by the Library to pick up a membership application.
