Thanksgiving Special: Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) What he really wanted was to spend Thanksgiving with his family. What he got was three days with this turkey.  This John Hughes (Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club) classic stars Steve Martin and John Candy; it’s Thanksgiving and snooty adman Neal Page (Martin) and quirkily curtain ring salesman Del Griffith (Candy) are both trying to get home from New York to Chicago for the holidays. But the weather isn’t being too kind.  Soon enough, this unlikely duo is thrown together in a rented Chrysler LeBaron Town and Country, sharing motel beds and becoming buddies in the process.
