In honor of Jane Austen’s 250^th birthday: Love and Friendship (2016) Opportunistic, devious, shrewd, calculating, cunning, unprincipled. Whit Stillman’s period piece – based on Jane Austen’s 1794 novel Lady Susan – stars Kate Beckinsale, Chloë Sevigny, Xavier Samuel, and Emma Greenwell. Set in the 1790’s, Love and Friendship centers on beautiful widow Lady Susan Vernon, who has come to the estate of her in-laws to wait out colorful rumors about her dalliances circulating through polite society. Whilst there, she decides to secure a husband for herself and her rather reluctant debutante daughter, Frederica.  Rated PG: 1 hour 30 minutes.
