Marry Makofske will lead a discussion of Strange as This Weather Has Been by Ann Pancake. Told in several different voices, this novel vividly depicts the impact of mountain-top coal removal on West Virginians pulled between their intimate connection to their land and their economic dependence on mining.

Meditation awakens us to the joy of the present moment. In this workshop, Mingyur Rinpoche explains what meditation is and how to get started. It’s not as hard as you think. You don’t have to be Buddhist to meditate. You don’t even have to be religious. All you need is a sincere desire to open your heart and mind to the present moment.
This workshop includes experiential video teachings by Mingyur Rinpoche and discussions led by Kathryn Prusinski, coordinator of the local Tergar Meditation Group. These teachings are suitable for people of all faiths, as well as both beginning and experienced meditators. No registration required.
