Name: Michael Rex
Biographical Information: Michael Rex was born in Chatham, NJ, and studied filmmaking at the School of Visual Arts, graduating in 1990. He began to get interested in children’s books in 1992 while designing children’s murals, and landed his first book, Floating Home by David Getz, in 1995. He then moved into writing and illustrating, and worked steadily until 2006, when he began teaching art full time. In 2008, he had a #1 NY Times Bestseller with Goodnight Goon: A Petrifying Parody. In 2009, Mr. Rex left teaching to focus on children’s books, and completed his Master’s Degree in 2010.
