Is there an American Dream anymore? Is it for everybody? Does it have a future? What is our country without one? Join us for a conversation presented by Braver Angels. Not a debate of warring opinions, or a discussion panel of experts, but a roomful of everyday Americans telling one another how these questions touch their own lives.
The program follows a parliamentary model, with speakers and questions, moderated by a Conversation Chair. Volunteers from among the participants talk for 3 or 4 minutes about their personal understanding and experience of the American Dream. After each speech, other participants may ask questions of curiosity, to clarify what the speaker said or focus briefly on some point. There are no winners or losers in a Braver Conversation–the goal is to learn how and why people see an issue the way they do.
