Estimated Tax Rates 2010/2011 Library Operating Levy

Current FY 2010-2011 Tax Rates*/Thousand for Library Operating Levy

Tax Rates for Fiscal Year 2010-2011:

Warwick — $2.49/$1,000

Chester — $0.58/$1,000

*Tax rates for the proposed library operating levy are estimated based on current assessment values and equalization rates. There is a different rate for Warwick and Chester homes in the Warwick Valley Central School District, because homes are assessed differently in these two areas.  Warwick homes are typically assessed at less than 25% of their actual market value, and Chester homes are assessed closer to the actual market value.  However, in both areas, Library tax rates are based on assessed value, not market value.

How to Figure Your Tax for the Proposed FY2010/2011 Library Operating Levy

Based on the current FY 2010/2011 tax rates, a family with a home in Warwick assessed at $50,000 would pay a Library operating tax of $124.50.  A family with a home in Chester assessed at $200,000 would pay a Library operating tax of $116.00 a year.

Examples:

If the assessed value of your property in Warwick is $45,000, you would divide that number by 1,000. The result is 45 and 45 multiplied by $2.49 is $112.05. Your 2010 tax for the operating expenses of the Library would be $112.05.

If the assessed value of your property in Chester is $180,000, you would divide that number by 1,000. The result is 180 and 180 multiplied by $0.58 is $104.40.  Your 2010 tax for operating expenses of the Library would be $104.40
