Dr. James A. Umhey, of Warwick, died peacefully on February
14, 2006 after a short illness.
The son of Charles Edward and Florence Umhey, Dr. Umhey
was born in Brooklyn on January 20, 1941.
He attended St. John's Prep and the University of Notre
Dame and graduated with honors. He began his medical training
at New York Medical College and was an honor graduate from
that institution. He then went on to complete his training
in Urology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New
York after he had served two years in the U.S. Army Medical
Corps. Upon completing his Urology residency, he joined
his brother in the practice of Urology in Orange County
where he practiced until March of 2005. During that time,
he became a Diplomat of the Board of Urology and carried
on a busy practice in Urology at Port Jervis, Goshen and
Warwick.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clare Umhey, who
died on February 11, 2005, after a long, valiant fight with
kidney disease.
Jim is survived by his son, James Umhey, Jr. of Warwick;
his brothers, John Umhey of Warwick and Dr. Charles Umhey
of Turah, Montana.
