About a Boy (2002) Growing up has nothing to do with age. Based on Nick Hornby’s 1998 novel, it stars Hugh Grant, Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette and Rachel Weitz. Will, who attends single parent meetings to woo women, meets Marcus, a troubled 12-year-old boy. As they become friends, Will learns to be responsible while he helps Marcus with his studies. Come and meet new friends and join in on a game that is played all over the world. Mahjong enthusiasts of all skill levels are invited to play every Tuesday from 10am to 1pm. The sessions are open-ended and participants can play as many or as few games as they wish. Players with mahjong sets are encouraged to bring them, as the Library has only a limited number to loan. This program is free, ongoing and open to players from all communities.

National Audubon Society's Christmas Bird Count is a citizen science project that has been tallying the birds of the Americas for over a century. Each year from December 14th through January 5th thousands of volunteers compile valuable data on bird population trends. Come learn about it's history and about how you might participate.

Jane Kenyon, born on May 23, 1947, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, earned her BA in 1970 and MA in 1972 from the University of Michigan, where she met and married poet Donald Hall. She published four poetry books, including Constance (1993) and Let Evening Come (1990), and a translation of Twenty Poems of Anna Akhmatova (1985). In 1981, she received a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship. In 1993, she and Hall were featured in the Emmy Award-winning documentary A Life Together. She was named New Hampshire's poet laureate in 1995. Her work often reflects themes of love, loss, and spirituality, resonating with quiet intensity. Through her poignant and accessible verse, Kenyon captures the beauty and struggles of ordinary existence, making her poetry both relatable and profound.
