    Do you feel a strain on your relationship with your child(ren)? Life is so busy; it is hard to find time for meaningful moments. During this workshop we will discuss the importance of connecting with your child, what a meaningful connection looks like, and how you fit it into your busy schedule. Join us to learn how simple positive interactions with you and your child(ren) repeated throughout their developing years become the bricks that build the foundation for all future development.

     

    Melissa Reali is a mom, wife, parent coach, owner of Playing Together, Being Together, and a permanently certified New York State teacher (Music, K-12). Melissa emphasizes the importance of play, loose parts, nature exploration, art, and music as vehicles for connection and as support for social-emotional growth which will lay the foundation for all future development.  Over the past 10 years, Melissa’s teaching journey has been influenced by Conscious Discipline; Loris Malaguzzi and his schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy; Kelly Mahler and the Interoception Curriculum, Forest Schools, and the use of nature and loose parts to inspire.

    AWPL Classic Monday - Imitation of Life (1959)  Douglas Sirk’s melodrama stars Lana Turner and Juanita Moore - as Lora Meredith, an aspiring actress, who befriends Annie Johnson, a homeless African American widow, in Coney Island. The two soon share a tiny apartment whilst dealing with their intolerable daughters.  Sirk's final Hollywood film dealt with issues of race, class and gender – way ahead of its time.  Not Rated; 2 hours, 5 minutes.
