With all of the terrible events of the past 18 months, missing a birthday party normally would not be a big deal.   However, last December the world missed out on celebrating the 250th birthday of the great Ludwig Van Beethoven, born on December 16, 1770.  This milestone is significant enough that it needs to be observed, even if a little late.

Because his symphonies, piano concertos and other large scale works are so monumental and iconic, people often fail to fully appreciate Beethoven's more intimate compositions.  While we don’t want to appear unappreciative of Beethoven’s magnificent symphonies, many scholars believe his chamber works to be his greatest accomplishment.  This concert, originally scheduled for last year, features 2 Beethoven chamber works:  his Grand Trio in C, op. 87, and his Allegro for a Musical Clock, op 33.   The program also features music by friends and contemporaries of Beethoven.

The temperamental Beethoven had few lifelong friends.  Anton Reicha was an exception.  Like Beethoven, he was born in 1770, and also turned 250 last year.  During his lifetime he was a popular and successful composer.   We will perform Reicha’s Flute Trio in D.   Other works that fit the historical scope of this concert include delightful trios by James Hook and François Devienne.

The Kemyndable Flute Trio is comprised of Amy Klein, Deborah Proulx and Kenneth Korn.  We have enjoyed performing together for several years, as a chamber ensemble as well as with the SUNY Orange Symphonic Band, the Maybrook Wind Ensemble and the Party of 4 Quartet.  The Kemyndable trio has played at a variety of local and charitable events, including the Warwick Valley Animal Shelter, the Finkelstein Memorial Library, Valley View Center, and the Warwick Farmers Market.  We are delighted to be returning to Albert Wisner Library. The Kemyndable Trio hopes to continue to  bring music to our community, supporting and performing for local civic and charitable organizations, and promoting a love of the arts through music.

This is an outdoor concert; please bring a chair or blanket for seating.  In the event of inclement weather, the program will be moved indoors to our Community Room and first 30 registrants will be seated.  Masks are required for indoor events.
