    Join Poet Laurie Byro to discuss selected poems of Ted Hughes, husband of Sylvia Plath and Poet Laureate of the UK from 1984 to 1998.  The circle will discuss the following:  The Thought Fox, Snowdrop, Esther’s Tomcat, Night Ride on Ariel, and King of Carrion.  Hard copies of the these poems are available to pick up at the Help Desk, or you can print them yourself from this pdf.

    Participants are encouraged to choose a favorite Poet Laureate of their own as their "summer traveling companion" and to bring a poem to share.  Another option is to read the book Birthday Letters by Ted Hughes (multiple copies are available in the Library system for checkout).  Note:  this program will meet outdoors in the Reading Garden on the McFarland Drive side of the library building.

    Help us get ready for the upcoming Warwick Children's Book Festival! Welcome our authors by helping to make gift bags full of homemade goodies. Help plan a craft for the children's tent too. This year, we have over 60 visiting authors so we'll need all the help we can get. There is no commitment to come every week, however you must register for each week you are attending so we make sure we have the room to social distance. We will cancel any week it rains, This year, we'll be making rock photo/nametag holders and book cover magnets! Earn 2 hours of volunteer credit for each session you attend!!

    Learn how to protect you and your family from exposure to tick bites! Join educator Danielle Moser for a Lyme Disease Prevention workshop which will cover the following topics:

    • Tick Life Cycle
    • Tick identification
    • Transmission of tick borne illnesses
    • Prevention of tick bites
    • What to do if you’re bit - how to remove a tick
    • Brief overview of Lyme disease signs & symptoms

     

    Danielle Moser is a Senior Public Health Educator with the Orange County Department of Health. She has a Master’s Degree in Public Health Education from Adelphi University and has been and educator at the Orange County Department of Health for over 18 years.  Mrs. Moser oversees the Chronic Disease Prevention Education, Vector-Borne Illness Education, and Tobacco Control Education Programs.  Mrs. Moser and her Healthy Orange Team present education on many health topics to over 5,000 community member, students, and professional groups each year.  Mrs. Moser has been educating the public on Lyme disease prevention for the past 12 years.

    Zumba that can be done by everyone, regardless of age or fitness level.  Perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower intensity.  Can be done seated as well.  This program will be held in person, socially-distanced, outside on the River Birch Patio at the back of the building

    Instructor Jessica Rose Duggins has been a ZIN member since Aug 2019 and absolutely loves teaching Zumba classes. The reason is simple:  every class feels like a party! She is ready to get you moving, sweating, and feeling unstoppable.  Jessica is currently licensed to teach Zumba, Zumba Gold, Zumba Kids & Kids Jr.  

    Please dress to sweat and bring your own water bottle if you would like. 

    This class will meet on Wednesday mornings in July and August.  Please register for each session individually.  If it is raining, the class is cancelled, not moved indoors.  

    Please note that there is no access to the library building until 10:00am
