SUMMARY:The American Revolution\, an Environmental Perspective: Five Lands
 capes that Shaped the War for Independence via ZOOM
DESCRIPTION:Scholar Blake McGready will present his research on how the Ame
 rican Revolution transformed the natural world -- and how the natural worl
 d affected the course of the Revolution. This lecture explores how militar
 y forces in the State of New York made war on the land by examining five d
 istinctive landscapes that became central to the struggle for independence
 . By focusing on these places\, we can see the Revolution in a new light:
 as a political\, military\, and environmental struggle.\n\nMr. McGready is
  a PhD candidate at the Graduate Center\, CUNY\, where he studies the envi
 ronmental history of the American Revolution. His research has been publis
 hed in Pennsylvania History and Early American Studies\, and he has receiv
 ed fellowships from institutions such as the Massachusetts Historical Soci
 ety\, the William L. Clements Library at the University of Michigan\, and
 the American Philosophical Society. Before pursuing his doctorate\, he wor
 ked for the National Park Service.\n\n&nbsp\;
