SUMMARY:Performing Arts on McFarland presents "Jane Austen: Who Dares to be
  an Authoress"
DESCRIPTION:A one-woman play written and performed by Laura Rocklyn.\n\nThe
  year is 1815\, and Jane Austen has just returned from a visit to the Prin
 ce Regent’s London residence. The honor of this invitation prompts her t
 o reminisce about the events that led the daughter of a country clergyman 
 to a position of such prominence. She shares her thoughts and feelings abo
 ut her novels and how their publication changed her life for ever.\n\nRun 
 time: Approx. 40 minutes for the scripted performance\, followed by 15-20 
 minutes for Q&amp\;A.\n\nFunded by a generous gift to the AWPL Foundation 
 by Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes.\n\n\n\nLaura Rocklyn is an actress\, writ
 er\, and first person historical interpreter based in Boston\, MA. She has
  performed with regional theater companies across the country and is a com
 pany member and teaching artist with the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company. 
  Laura’s voice work can be found on Audible and on numerous podcasts. S
 he writes and performs historic character portrayals for educational group
 s on both sides of the Atlantic\, and she is a Museum Educator at the Paul
  Revere House Museum in Boston. Laura is on the Executive Board of the Nor
 th American Friends of Chawton House and on the Advisory Council of the Ma
 ssachusetts Historical Society.\nLaura holds an MFA in Creative Writing fr
 om Emerson College\, an MFA from The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Acade
 my for Classical Acting at The George Washington University\, and a BA in
