DESCRIPTION:From Homer to Harpo and beyond:  "Out of Africa - The Beat Goe
 s On" is an innovative concert/lecture exploring the 62\,000 year world hi
 story of the harp.  Your guides are The Gravikord Duo: Bob Grawi\, invent
 or of the Gravikord and his wife Pip Klein on flute and percussion. The Gr
 avikord\, a double electric harp based on the West African kora\, is one o
 f the world's newest harps and in 2018 was added to the permanent musical 
 instrument collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  A slide show ou
 tlines the evolution of the harp and is enhanced with personal stories\, r
 eadings and a mix of original and international live musical selections. T
 he couple\, based in Orange County\, NY has been performing their unique b
 lend of "new folk chamber jazz"  for fascinated audiences worldwide since
  1988.\n\nThis project is made possible with funds from the New York State
  Legislature and administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.  \n
