How to find and reserve books and materials

To reserve items from home you must first Search the Online Catalog to determine where the items are, and whether they are available (checked in).

Please note that 'reserve' items like ILL (Interlibrary Loan items) will have a $0.25 charge at pickup.

Then you must sign on under My Account, put in your Barcode number and PIN (4 digit number, usually the last 4 digits or your phone number or similar number)

After you sign in you see your personal Overview, which includes Items out, Holds (or Reserves you have placed), Request History, Blocks and Profile.

Besides, requesting items (or 'placing a Hold') you can view your past request history and change your Profile (address, phone numbers, etc.).

To place a Hold Search the item first in the Catalog, see Online Catalog above.
You may search by 'keyword', 'title', 'subject', etc. (see the Pull down menu with the little down arrow to choose a search mode).
Then, after your Search Results are displayed, click under the 'title' (or whatever search method you chose) on the LEFT hand side to display search items.
After the item is displayed, click on 'Request item' button, on the lower RIGHT hand side.

You will see a text box displaying your HOLD/Request, with the following,

Please Confirm Request. By clicking on the REQUEST button below, you agree to abide by the loan policies of whatever RCLS library fills your hold request

At this point, you may 'request', 'cancel' or 'cancel and logout'.

If you requested the item, a confirmation dialog box will give you a confirmation message and how long the request will be valid, as well as the 'pickup' library location for your item.

You are done!
