A timeline of the history and development of the Village of Warwick

14,000 -12,000 years ago: AFTER THE GLACIERS

As soon as the glaciers retreated, the Paleoindians arrived in our valley. We know this from projectile points found that date to this time period.

12,000 years ago to the1600s: INDIAN CULTURES

A succession of more than a dozen Indian cultures visited and lived in our area, as this exhibit shows. You can also listen to the interview.

1600s-1700s: LENAPE

At the time when the first explorers and trappers from Europe came, the Indian culture here was a branch of the Lenape called the Munsee or Minsee. One of their villages was located a little south of the current village boundary.
